Before the Tour: Preparation Tips

Arriving prepared makes your venue tour more productive and enjoyable. Here are some steps to take before your visit:

  • Research venues online

Look at photos, read reviews, and check the venue’s website for available packages and pricing. This helps you decide if it fits your style and budget and will save you a considerable amount of time.

  • List your must-haves

Think about and write down the features you want and what's the most important to you, such as indoor/outdoor options, capacity, scenery, or accessibility. This list will help guide you during the tour.

  • Guest List & Wedding date

Before you book a tour of any venue, be sure to have an idea of two things, when you want your wedding, and a good guestimate on how many guests you'll be hosting. You don't have to have an exact date, but knowing a year, season, and/or month is very helpful. Knowing how many guests you're expecting is important too! You don't want to tour a place that's too small, or that feels too large for your guest capacity.

  • Bring a notebook or device

Take notes and photos to compare venues later.

What You Will See During the Tour

When you arrive, either the venue owner or one of our coordinators will greet you at the Farm Hall and start the tour. Here’s what you can expect to explore:

Ceremony Spaces

Most venues offer several ceremony options. At Hope Springs you'll see many different options for ceremonies:

  • Outdoor patio & courtyards:

Our outdoor ceremony spaces are just steps away from our indoor options, excluding the Creekside site. We have a scenic courtyard, a barn-side courtyard, and the patio for ceremonies. Many venues will offer outdoor areas and features you'll definitely want to check out....ours is something you want to see in person for sure. Our Creekside site is just down the hill from the Farm Hall. It's a private area, but still accessible for all vehicles.

  • Indoor areas

Ideal for all-weather weddings, the Farm Hall is 4,000 sq ft, filled with windows, surrounded by nature, and has all the essentials you need for hosting, and customizable seating. We also have our authentic barn, which seats less but is a great back up space for ceremonies and activities! You'll explore both areas during your tour!

In every area you explore, imagine how your guests will be seated and how the space will look with decorations.

Reception Areas

The reception areas is where you’ll celebrate with food, dancing, and speeches. We have both indoor and outdoor spaces for receptions. Look for:

  • Room size and shape

Make sure it fits your guest list comfortably without feeling cramped. Our entire venue is designed to flow well with guests, as they move from one area to the next seamlessly.

  • Dance floor and stage

On the tour, you'll be able to see our indoor and outdoor options for dancing. Our entire outdoor space was designed for entertaining. We have plenty of outlets and areas for all your vendors to set up that we'll show you on your tour as well.

  • Lighting and acoustics

Good lighting enhances the mood, and clear sound is essential for speeches and music. We have so much outdoor decorative lighting, because I am truly obsessed with lighting! You can't miss all the great lighting options we have on your tour.

Catering and Kitchen Facilities

During your tour, you'll walk into our kitchenette and food prep area that's located inside the Farm Hall. This shows how meals will be handled and also how drinks can be served. We have options for both!

Bridal Suite and Groom’s Room

Many venues offer private rooms for the couple to get ready....our spaces aren't just "rooms". Our Bridal Suite is a whole house, designed to give the girls all the space they need. Our Groom's suite is our bunkhouse, with lots of space for all the guys. Our areas for getting ready are spacious and comfortable, close to our venue area but far enough away people aren't coming to you with questions all day.

Parking and Accessibility

We have enough parking area to hold 500 cars at our venue, and it's accessible for people with mobility challenges.

Questions to Ask During Your Visit

Asking the right questions helps you avoid surprises later. Consider these:

  • What is included in the rental fee?

  • Are there restrictions on decorations, music, or alcohol?

  • How many weddings are held on the same day?

  • What is the cancellation or rescheduling policy?

  • Is there an on-site coordinator on the wedding day?

  • Are tables, chairs, linens, and other rentals included?

  • What is the payment schedule and deposit amount?

  • Can you provide references from recent couples? During your tour, we answer your questions but we also try to answer them ahead of time so that you're prepared as possible before your visit here.

Visualizing Your Wedding Day

During the tour, try to picture your ceremony and reception in the space. Imagine:

  • Walking down the aisle

  • Seating arrangements for family and friends

  • Where the cake and buffet will be placed

  • How the lighting will change from day to night

  • Flow of guests between ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception

If possible, bring your fiancé, family members, or wedding planner to get different perspectives.

Taking Notes and Comparing Venues

After the tour, review your notes and photos. Compare:

  • Price and what’s included

  • Venue atmosphere and style

  • Flexibility with vendors and timing

  • Location for guests

  • Overall feeling and excitement about the space

Trust your instincts. The right venue will feel like a place where your wedding story can unfold naturally, not a place you're settling for.

Comments

We serve couples from all over the United States and host many of out of state weddings. Usually, our couples have a local connection to the Ozarks area (Springfield, Marshfield, Mansfield, Lebanon, Mountain Grove, West Plains), but not always. Some families just connect with our farm in general.
