Unleashing Adventure: Join Us for the 5K Trail Run on the Farm near Springfield, MO

Imagine running through open fields, alongside the creeks, through the woodland trails, and breathing fresh country air as you navigate our new scenic 5K trail. We are so excited to not only create more permanent walking trails on our property, but also to host our first 5K run on the farm. We love giving opportunities for people to experience the farm, and this is certainly a unique new way! However, this isn't our first experience with a trail run, as we've hosted a 5k Mud Run (with obstacles) on our grandparents farm. We hope to eventually build obstacles and host a mud run on this farm as well! This 5K is not your typical race. The Trail Run offers a unique blend of fitness, nature, and adventure that invites runners of all levels to experience something different. Whether you are a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to get active, this event promises an unforgettable day outdoors. We are super excited to partner with Equipped Fitness to host this event! We've been prepping the trails like crazy to give you a one of a kind, amazing experience. While we prep the trails, Equipped Fitness will help YOU prep for the 5K and is offering 10 weeks of structured guidance for their Couch to 5K program.

What Makes the 5K Trail Run on the Farm Special

Unlike city races or treadmill runs, this trail run takes place on a working farm, surrounded by natural beauty and rustic charm. The course weaves through open pastures, over the rolling hills, and through woods, offering a variety of terrain that keeps the run interesting and engaging.

  • Natural terrain: Expect dirt paths, gravel and rocks, grassy stretches, and slopes that challenge your balance and endurance. You will cross creeks as well, but we will provide ways across that keep your feet dry as possible!

  • Fresh air and open space: There's plenty of fresh air to go around here!

  • Wildlife and scenery: Spot birds, butterflies, and farm animals along the way, adding a touch of wildlife to your workout.

This event is designed to be accessible. The 5K distance is manageable but more challenging for beginners but still rewarding for experienced runners who want to enjoy a change of pace.

Preparing for the Trail Run

Running on a farm trail requires some preparation different from road running. Here are practical tips to get ready:

  • Footwear: Choose trail running shoes or sturdy sneakers with good grip to handle uneven ground.

  • Clothing: Dress in layers suitable for outdoor weather. Breathable fabrics help manage sweat.

  • Hydration: There will be 2 water and first aid stations along on the course but you're also welcome to bring your own.

  • Warm-up: Spend 5-10 minutes warming up with dynamic stretches and light jogging to prepare your muscles.

  • Pacing: Start at a comfortable pace. Trails can be unpredictable, so listen to your body.

By preparing properly, you can enjoy the run safely and comfortably.
