My dad has been doing the coolest things since he's been "retired" from milking cows. His favorite thing to do is tinker out in his shop...forging metal and coming up with all kinds of creations. He loves making things for our kids and has made them several small toys, built them a real dirt bike from scratch, and now, this windmill project for me.
He has spent so much time on the project, most of it spent finding the right components to make the fan turn at the perfect motion. He drove 8 hours to get the windmill head, and has spent the last month turning it into a ceiling fan for the new building. From the shaft, to the motor and pulleys, he's put in so much work figuring out the perfect way to operate it. The installation of the fan took about 3 hours with 4 guys helping. It was quite a chore because the fan is so awkward, but once everything got all hooked up and plugged in, it worked perfectly!
Most people will think the windmill fan is pretty cool, but to me it's so much more than that. My dad made it for me, and for that reason, it will always be one of my favorite features of our venue.
